Castro Statement on Senate Passage of GOP Tax Bill

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) released the following statement about the GOP tax bill:

“Early this morning, the Senate raced to push through a tax bill that will harm millions of Americans and hard working families in order to give billionaires yet another tax break. Like the House GOP tax bill, this bill would add more than $1 trillion to the deficit over 10 years, create massive tax hikes on the middle class, and dismantle vital health care benefits for millions of Americans. 

The GOP tax plan is bad for Texans and Americans. As the House and Senate Republicans meet next week to deliberate further, I urge my Republican colleagues to make the right decision and reevaluate these harmful bills to do what is best for the American people by presenting a bill that is fiscally responsible, protects hard working families and creates jobs and economic growth.”
