Congressional Art Competition
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constiutients. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
Every spring, high school students are encouraged to compete in the Congressional Art Competition for a chance to showcase their owrk amongst the most talented students in the nation. The overall winner in our district will have their art displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. They will also have the opportunity to attend a reception in Washington, D.C.
The Congressional Art Competition is open to all students who reside in or attend a high school in the District (TX-20). The over-all winner of our district's competition will have their art displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol in an exhibit will include artwork from other contest winners nation-wide. Second place will be displayed in our D.C. office and third place will be displayed in our San Antonio office.

Art work entered in the contest may be up to 26” x 26” x 4”, including the frame. The art work may be:
- Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor
- Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
- Collage
- Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
- Mixed Media
- Computer Generated Art
- Photography
All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution. No 3-D art will be accepted.
