Castro Launches Foreign Policy Podcast
“The Diplomatic Cable” Will Offer Insights into Critical Foreign Policy and National Security Challenges We Face
WASHINGTON—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and First Vice Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, this evening launched “the Diplomatic Cable,” which is a podcast highlighting critical foreign policy and national security challenges facing the United States and the world.
On the first episode, Congressman Castro speaks with former Under Secretary for Political Affairs and lead negotiator on the Iran Deal Ambassador Wendy Sherman and President Trump’s former candidate for U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Dr. Victor Cha about the upcoming Trump-Kim summit on June 12.
“We are in a time of transition and perhaps even transformation as we reflect on the events of the world over the past ten years. The ways of the world for the past 70 years are being challenged, rethought and reformed as we head towards high stakes negotiations with North Korea, a possible trade war with our allies, and the ramifications of the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran Deal,” said Congressman Castro. “Hearing from seasoned policymakers and practitioners, our next generation of leaders, and everyday citizens, the Diplomatic Cable will discuss vital foreign policy and national security issues facing our nation and show how diplomacy makes our world a better, safer place.”
