Castro Statement on Immigrant Heritage Month
WASHINGTON—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and First Vice Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, made the following statement:
"For centuries, people from around the world traveled to America in search of more opportunity for themselves and their families. Because of this, many Americans share the great privilege of having an immigrant story and have become our nation’s doctors, educators, athletes, businessmen and women, U.S. servicemembers and so much more. This heritage shaped who we are as a nation, and we must celebrate the great diversity our country has built over the generations. During Immigrant Heritage Month, I recognize the countless contributions immigrants offer our communities every day which make our nation brighter and stronger.”
