Congressman Castro’s Statement on House Passage of Build Back Better Act
WASHINGTON – Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) issued the following statement on the U.S. House of Representatives passing the Build Back Better Act:
“For years, I've worked in Congress to build out what I call America's Infrastructure of Opportunity --- and the Build Back Better Act delivers meaningful progress for San Antonio, Texas, and the American people. Quality child care and universal preschool for children, good public schools for students, affordable health care for families, immigration protections for Dreamers, TPS holders, and essential workers, lower prescription drug costs for those in desperate need, economic dignity for senior citizens, and it's fully paid for by the wealthiest individuals and giant corporations paying their fair share. As the co-chair of the Congressional Pre-K Caucus, I'm particularly proud of the investment in free preschool for all 3- and 4-year-olds, building upon PreK4SA in our community. This bill is a once-in-a-generation investment that will help accelerate our economic recovery and enable all Americans to pursue their dreams. I hope the U.S. Senate takes swift action on this legislation and we get this transformative legislation to President Biden's desk as soon as possible."
