CONGRESSMAN CASTRO WELCOMES TAYLOR AS SAN ANTONIO’S INTERIM MAYOR

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) released this statement welcoming Ivy Taylor as San Antonio’s Interim Mayor, as his brother Julian Castro resigns as Mayor to become Secretary of Housing and Urban Development:

“Congratulations to Ivy Taylor for being selected Interim Mayor of the great city of San Antonio and making history as our city’s first African American mayor. I look forward to working with Mayor Taylor as we continue to fuel the momentum our city has achieved over the past couple of years.

San Antonio is home to visionary, hard-working folks and the city has been blessed with great leadership at every level—from the neighborhood associations to the city government. I will continue to work with the city’s leadership to ensure that San Antonio continues to be a city on the rise.

I’m grateful for Julian’s hard work and dedication to our hometown over the past 13 years. San Antonio will always be Julian’s home, but I’m excited for our nation as he takes his vision and work ethic to our nation’s capital.”
