Congressman Castro Secures $4.6 Million for CentroMed Community Health Services
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) announced that his office has secured $4,658,823 in federal funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Health Center Cluster grant program to help San Antonio’s CentroMed network provide high-quality, compassionate health care to more than 121,000 patients at 24 clinical sites throughout Bexar, Comal, and Guadalupe Counties.
“For more than half a century, CentroMed has been an important center of affordable care for working families and seniors in San Antonio and our surrounding communities. I’m proud to get this funding to support CentroMed’s work, and I look forward to seeing how it will help more San Antonio families and seniors get the care they need,” said Congressman Castro.
“HRSA support is critical to our efforts to provide health care to area residents. Over 120,000 patients rely on CentroMed for their health care. Congressman Castro has continuously supported CentroMed, enabling us to provide access to health care,” said Dr. Ernesto Gomez, President & CEO of CentroMed.
Today’s grant announcement comes in addition to $1 million that Congressman Castro secured through the federal community project funding process to support renovation costs for the CentroMed South Park Medical Clinic as part of ongoing efforts to increase and enhance access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary care services and improve health-related outcomes for underserved and vulnerable populations.
