Congressman Castro Announces $1.3 Million in Security Grants for Charitable and Faith-Based Organizations Serving San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO – Today, Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) announced $1,344,979 in federal funding to help San Antonio-area nonprofits and faith-based organizations prevent and protect against terrorist threats and attacks. These federal funds, awarded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program, provide financial assistance for local charitable and faith-based organizations to enhance security measures, including alarm systems, security guards, training, and other emergency preparedness planning.
“Across the country, including in Texas, we have seen a rise in violent, hate-driven threats and attacks,” said Congressman Castro. “This grant funding will help equip San Antonio organizations and places of worship with the necessary enhancements to safely serve our community. I will continue working with the federal government to bring federal resources home and keep San Antonians safe.”
Since taking office in 2013, Congressman Castro has secured more than $115 million in federal grants for organizations and groups serving San Antonio. To connect with Congressman Castro’s office and learn more about the process of applying for federal grant opportunities, please call 210-348-8216.
