Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Joaquin Castro Calls on Governor Northam to Resign
WASHINGTON— Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, released the following statement:
"I join my colleagues of the Congressional Black Caucus in calling for Virginia Governor Northam's resignation. His display of racism occurred years after our nation had openly confronted the scourge and legacy of racial prejudice. While his political record does not seem to match the man profiled in that yearbook, his silence throughout the years undercuts his atonement today. There is no question that people can change and be forgiven. Stepping down from the state's highest office is part of the process of healing and forgiveness."
