Castro Statement to Commemorate NATO’s 70th Anniversary
WASHINGTON—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Vice Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and a member of the House Intelligence and Education and Labor Committees, released the following statement today to commemorate NATO’s 70th anniversary:
“NATO is the single most important military alliance that has set the foundation for national security in the last 70 years. Today’s anniversary serves as a reminder of the democratic values we share, and the critical bipartisan nature of this mutual partnership. Despite being a unifying force at home and abroad, there are political attacks against this critical alliance and its allies, all of whom serve as a primary counterweight to terrorism and authoritarianism across the globe. In a time when threats to democracy are all too common, this military alliance carries the torch of democracy, and Congress won’t stop fighting to protect this essential alliance at all costs.”
