Castro Statement on Passing of Barbara Bush

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Joaquin Castro, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and First Vice Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, this evening released the following statement:

“I am deeply saddened to learn of former First Lady Barbara Bush’s passing and my heart goes out to the Bush family during this difficult time of great loss. An American icon, a role model for civic participation, and a deeply caring person, this loss will be felt by many throughout Texas and the nation. Mrs. Bush dedicated her life to help Americans reach their full potential through raising awareness about literacy and was devoted to making our country a better place where one could achieve their dreams. Mrs. Bush changed the lives of millions across the nation and we will honor her memory in years to come.”
