CASTRO STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF SHORT-TERM CONTINUING RESOLUTION

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) released the following statement after voting in favor of the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5325 – Continuing Appropriations and Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017 and Zika Response and Preparedness Act, 2016:

“I’m glad that Congress reached an agreement to avert a government shutdown. The package we passed contains $1.1 billion to combat Zika, a virus that poses a serious threat to Texans’ health. The legislation also includes $500 million for flood relief in Texas, Louisiana, and other states in need of aid. I look forward to passing a long-term funding measure when Congress reconvenes after the election.”

The Senate Amendment to H.R. 5325 passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 342 to 85.
