Castro Statement on Trump Veto of Bipartisan Yemen Resolution

WASHINGTON—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Vice Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and a member of the House Intelligence and Education and Labor Committees, released the following statement today in response to President’s Trump veto of the bipartisan, bicameral Yemen resolution:

“The war in Yemen is a humanitarian disaster. When confronted with the choice to withdraw U.S. military support for this conflict and end American engagement in a war that has brought harm and suffering to the Yemeni people, President Trump vetoed it. Congress spoke loud and clear and voted on a bicameral, bipartisan basis to end America’s participation in this catastrophe. Despite that, the President has put political games above the will of the American people. Enough is enough. I urge President Trump to change course and work with Congress to advance a stable solution that prioritizes American values and puts the dignity of the Yemeni people before his own cynical agenda.”
