Castro Statement on Mueller Press Conference

WASHINGTON—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Vice Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and a member of the House Intelligence and Education and Labor Committees, released the following statement today in response to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s press conference on the Department of Justice’s investigation and his first public statement in two years:

“Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s press conference reaffirmed the central findings of the report: a foreign adversary attacked our democracy and the President believes he is above the law. We still need to do our jobs. Robert Mueller reiterated once again that his hands were tied in charging the President with a crime, but Congress’ are not. Despite outright misrepresentation of the report from this Administration, Russian interference in our election was not a hoax and the President was not exonerated. The American public needs to hear directly from Robert Mueller about the investigation and ongoing implications for our democracy. Congress must get answers for the American people.”
