Castro Statement on New U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement
WASHINGTON—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and First Vice Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, today released the following statement:
“As the specifics are still being worked out, I await details of the President’s announced renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), that includes Canada and Mexico as participants in the agreement, to assess its effects on American workers, businesses, and environment and particularly working-class families across our nation. Texas exports more than any other state in our nation, and the value of commerce with Mexico and Canada is critical to Texan workers and businesses. I will consult with constituents to understand the impact that this agreement will have on San Antonians and their businesses, and engage with this Administration to address any concerns.”
