Castro Statement on House Intelligence Committee Hearing

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement on today’s public hearing:

“Two portions of today’s hearing stood out as particularly significant. First, the American people learned that the FBI is investigating possible links between the Trump campaign and Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election. Second, both FBI Director Comey and National Security Agency Director Rogers confirmed that neither of them have seen any evidence to support the President’s claims that President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.

“I look forward to the Intelligence Committee’s bipartisan investigation moving forward, building on what we discussed today. We need to determine not only the extent of Russia’s attempts to undermine our election and democracy, but also whether any Americans participated in those efforts. I am confident that with continued cooperation, our investigation will go wherever the evidence leads.”
