Castro Statement on Austin Bombings
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, today made the following statement after receiving a personal briefing from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Investigative Division:
“In the last three weeks, there have been four bombs in Austin and one just outside San Antonio killing two and injuring five others. But the psychological effects continue to ripple throughout our state. This is a grave situation, and I am grateful to our local, state, and federal law enforcement officials who are working together around the clock to bring those responsible to justice and get to the bottom of this campaign of violence.
“I urge all Texans to remain vigilant of your surroundings. Do not approach any package, box, or backpack if it looks suspicious or you are not expecting it. If you see something, do not hesitate to say something. We must all stand together during this time.”
