Castro Statement on 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), founding co-chair of the U.S.-Japan Caucus and member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement to mark the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor:

“Today we mark a solemn date in our nation’s history. The loss of life at Pearl Harbor 75 years ago was a tragedy that will never be forgotten.

“Since that time, the United States’ relationship with Japan has grown into a strategic alliance based on a shared desire for peace. Indicative of just how far our nations’ partnership has come, Prime Minister Shinz? Abe will visit Pearl Harbor later this month for a meeting with President Obama. On this anniversary, our countries renew our collective commitment to enduring stability in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.”
