Castro Releases Podcast Episode on Trump-Russia Investigation
Sixth Episode of “Diplomatic Cable” Features House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff (CA-28)
WASHINGTON—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and First Vice Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, released a Diplomatic Cable episode on the investigation into the Trump campaign’s collusion with Russia in the 2016 presidential election:
The episode is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Play.
“The Intelligence Community, Administration officials and Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle all agree that Russia attempted to sow discord and misinformation throughout the 2016 presidential election to help elect Donald Trump. But in March, the House Intelligence Committee Majority prematurely shut down our investigation into the Trump campaign’s collusion with Russia in the 2016 presidential election in an effort to protect the President at all costs,” said Rep. Castro. “Featuring the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff, this episode focuses on the House Intelligence Committee Majority’s failure to place national security above partisan politics, the series of leads in our instigation that remain untouched, the President’s obstruction of justice and what might a Democratic Majority in the House mean for the investigation moving forward. The American people deserve transparency in our investigation, and this episode helps provide the truth as best we can in the present political environment.”
On the episode, Ranking Member Schiff says, “Whether this began before 2016 or not, what is important from the American national security point of view is: has U.S. President been compromised? And that’s a question that we need to answer.”
Future episodes of the Diplomatic Cable will include discussions with former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Roberta Jacobson, Council on Foreign Relations President Richard Haass, Under Secretary for Political Affairs at the United States Department of State Nick Burns, former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Admiral James Stavridis, German Marshall Fund’s Laura Rosenberger, International Rescue Committee (IRC) CEO and President David Miliband, and many other experts, practitioners, Members of Congress and American citizens. Episodes will focus on repercussions of U.S. withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the consequences of a rising China, the crisis in American diplomacy and development, election security, prospects for Middle East peace and many other issues.
