Castro Statement on Chemical Attack in Syria
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, today made the following statement:
“One year after Assad conducted a chemical attack at Khan Sheikhoun and the United States responded with limited military action, reports indicated that the President wanted to pull out of Syria. This likely emboldened Assad to use chemical weapons once again against the Syrian people. This crime against humanity requires a strong and swift response by the United States and nations of conscience around the world.
“For every action, there’s a reaction. I urge the Administration to present a clear, full and comprehensive strategy to Congress immediately to punish Assad and his supporters in Moscow and Tehran for this deadly assault.”
