Visit to Japan and South Korea
On my visit to Japan and South Korea, two of the United States’ critical security and economic allies, I met with several government officials, including Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe and Speaker of Korea's National Assembly Chung Sye-kyun. We discussed ways we can strengthen our nations’ bonds. San Antonio has particularly strong ties with Japan and Japanese businesses, and I reiterated our city’s commitment to our Asian partners. As a founding co-chair of the U.S.-Japan Caucus in Congress, I will continue to create opportunities for U.S. legislators to meet with our Japanese and Korean counterparts. The greater our understanding of each other’s priorities, policymaking processes, and customs, the more effectively we can work together to make the world a more secure, prosperous place.
